Interview with John Doody
February 7th, 2014
Today my guest is author John Doody. He will be telling us something about himself and his books.
Good morning John. Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to visit with us and to be gracious enough to answer some questions about yourself and your writing.
In what genre do you write and why did you choose that particular genre?
I write mainly Science Fiction. One day I realized that this is the genre I'm most comfortable in.
How do you manage to write and promote and take care of everything else in your life?
I really don't. Until I'm at a point where I'm writing full time it's just going to be hectic with loose ends.
Do you have a special place to do your writing? Do you like solitude as you write or does music inspire you? If it does, what kind of music do you prefer?
I can write anywhere depending on what draft I'm doing. When I'm concentrating on details (later draft) I tend to want more quiet, but we have three kids.
If you could start your writing career over again, what bit of advice or know-how would you want to bring with you?
I would pray more about small things and seek His guidance for my stories.
Using only three words describe your writing voice.
I like robots.
What is the best writing advice you ever had?
A nice lady told me to stay away from the vanity houses and so I have.
If you were a book what would the blurb on your back cover say?
He's still working on me.
Tell us about your latest publication.
Return of the Crimson Witch, Book 3 of the Guild Saga, is now in edits and expected to be released in July or August.
...There's treachery afoot in the Guild and, no doubt, Patho is behind it. The wreckage of an unusual spacecraft is found in the wilderness of Daggon. An empty grave is discovered on Timmerus and there's a body behind an apartment wall in a Daggonite town called, Endwhia. What is the true identity of the man that brought the Wonk Decelerator to the yazz? Perhaps the mystery of the Wonks is finally coming to light, as is the destiny of Thad Cochran.
Tell us something about yourself that no one would ever guess.
I was the Kickout Hopscotch champion of my elementary school.
Tell us about your work in progress and give us your website address and other points of contact where we can learn more about you. The novel I'm currently writing is called, The Dark. I'm a third of the way through it and it is a combination of science fiction and horror, with a little supernatural suspense tossed in. I'll tell you about it once it's done and I have a contract.
Points of contact for John.
Thank you for calling on us. Come again soon.
Thank you. This was fun.
